If AT&T (the US carrier for iPhone) don't want Skype and other VoIP over 3G why in other countries we cannot get Skype over other network's 3G? Simple question but no reply, because Apple doesn't care about International markets.

Wow, that's a scathing take down of Apple's letter. I pretty much agree, too. AT&T said it was Apple... and Apple said it was Apple. So there you go. That's solved. Now for the why...

I also noticed their use of "replace" and thought "how could they "disable" the iPhone Visual Voicemail? They can't do that, can they? And you confirmed that the SDK wouldn't allow that. They're just trying to pull the wool over some regulators' eyes on that one. Total BS!

I think we should take them at their word, though, that it hasn't been rejected... just in further review. That means that with enough pressure, they will probably approve it. In fact this seems to me like the first step toward a recant on all of this... especially if the FCC realizes their BS too.

And the concern over Gmail contacts? Absurd! Even IF Google is fully syncing contacts (which it should have as an option) why is that any different than Apple syncing them via iTunes? (oh, wait, it's a control thing again).

And your lack of "specific guidance"? Amazing, especially after reading your post about Richard weeks ago. They've got a lot of nerve.

So yeah, I'm pissed too. I use VoiceCentral and think it's great... and (no offense) a Google branded app would be even better... and I too have considered "replacing" the iPhone for true Google Voice functionality... but I can't... just can't... so... hard... to.... resist Apple's forcefield....

I was also confused by Apple's mention that your contacts end up on Google's servers, when in fact that very feature was added to OS X's own Address Book program! I don't see the issue there.
